A bit of a disaster

This is my dining room table.

birthday flowers

We are a mess over here, but this is the cheeriest spot in the house.  Birthday flowers and a mess of fabric.  Henry has been sick with a stomach bug since Saturday morning, so be glad that I didn't share a photo of the mountain of yucky laundry.

When I get some time between coaxing fluids, giving emergency baths and laying as still as possible so a heavy boy can sleep on me, I've been working on a new pattern for a quilt.  I can't wait to share it here.  In the meantime, I hope my boy can give me the birthday present of keeping his food down and not needing any more urgent visits to the doctor.

If you have a moment, can you share something cheerful from your life today?  I'm determined not to let whining sick boy get me down today.

Happy Birthday Melinda! Your flowers are gorgeous. Let's see...a happy thought...crocus are blooming here and we can go out in spring jackets! My daughter is wearing a new twirly skirt and enjoying spinning. I just made an alpaca headband for a Daisy Scout play---that should give you a chuckle.

Oooh....cheery thoughts - just walked the boys to school and the birds are chirping wildly. Looking forward to some fun sewing and putting the taxes off another day : )

A cheerful thought . . . people always say to me that one day the kids will be big / gone and I'll miss when they needed me so much. I don't think they mean stomach flu induced laundry, though.

A better cheerful thought . . . by the time he's better it will be nice enough to go hang out at the park.

Love that pile of fabric - can't wait to see what you're making with it.

Happy Birthday wishes to you Melinda..... so sorry your son is sick! We went through our bout with a nasty bug last month. I had one down each week, that makes three weeks straight- Ha! But we all got through it! Love those Renunculas? Can't wait to see your new design! Be well.....

Happy Birthday!! Sorry your little isn't feeling well, I hope it passes quickly.

Let's see, something cheerful....I finally finished my scrapbook from our vacation last may, so now instead of piles of pictures/momentos waiting to become something, I have a book of pretty pictures to look at :)

Enjoy the beauty of your flowers and fabric, can't wait to see a new quilt design!

Happy birthday Melinda! Those ranunculus are beautiful! I'm using a voucher my husband gave me for Christmas to have a facial and massage today- that's making me happy!

Happy birthday!!! I hope Henry feels all better soon.

I am happy today because my beloved dog is full of energy. A week ago the vet said she might not survive the night. She's not out of the woods yet, but healing comes in some form or another even when things look bleak. It will happen in your house too, I firmly believe it. <3

Happy birthday, so sorry to hear your little one is sick, it's going around! Hope he feels better real soon.
Today it was 80 degrees, the birds were singing and the sun was shining, I dug around in the garden.

Happy birthday to you!

Today is the 19th anniversary of the day I became I mama: my little boy turned 19 at 6:30 a.m., April 10. Sigh. It seems like just yesterday I was exhibiting super-human strength in an attempt to spare our white carpet from his little-lad-stomach-flu-vomiting-from-the-top-bunk escapades. Ah, memories! It will all make a funny story one day....hang in there :)

Happy Birthday, Melinda, though I'm sorry that it isn't happier on your end of things...

I just finished wiping down (almost) all of my kitchen counters for the first time in I don't know how long, and hey, they really do shine when you clean them!

Hi - this is just2Bjulie from Ravelry--I stalk your blog and I love it!

My "something cheerful" is that you're the best quilter I know. I have especially liked watching your Farmer's Wife come together. I love that you're posting your re-dos. It encourages me to make mistakes and then fix them. Without fail, your re-dos have been substantially better than their originals.

Hope that helps cheer you up--if not, I have more fun things to say about your creativity. Let me know and I'll gush some more. :)

I missed your Birthday. Boo. Happy Birthday to you! We have been sick in this house for weeks it seems. Finally I am digging out of the ick and back online.

Hopefully Henry is feeling better by now.

A cheerful thing is that you are awesome! And I'm glad to know you!

Happy Birthday! Mine was on the 9th (36). What date was yours? I reckon stomach bugs are the worst illness. Yuck! The ranunculus are beautiful! Hope Henry is well again now.
